As June comes to a close, we at Mountain Luxury Real Estate would like to briefly look ahead to Independence Day, which is just around the corner.  Do you have any plans yet for celebrating our nation’s birthday?  If not, we’re here to help!

Independence Day

Weber County—and northern Utah in general—is the place to be on July 4th, as Ogden, Ogden Valley, and the surrounding areas host numerous Independence Day celebrations.  To help you decide how and where to celebrate our country’s heritage, we’ve comprised this guide of all the Fourth of July festivities in the area.

  • Farr West: Freedom Festival

Farr West’s Freedom Festival begins with a 5K run/walk at 7:00 am and a community breakfast at Mountain View Park from 7:00 to 8:30.  A parade will begin at 10:00.  Mountain View Park will host games, booths, food, vendors, and more throughout the day.  Dinner will be served from 5:00 pm to 8:00.  Fireworks begin at 9:00.  Mountain View Park is located at 1500 N 1700 W.

  • Huntsville

Huntsville’s Independence Day celebration is often touted as one of the best in the state, drawing visitors from all around Northern Utah every year.  This year, the festivities will begin with a community breakfast at Huntsville Park from 7:00 am to 10:00 am.  A parade will begin immediately following the breakfast.  Huntsville Park will host games, booths, food, crafts, and vendors throughout the day.  Huntsville Park will also host other entertainment, such as a speech contest and talent contest, a video film festival, volleyball tournaments, basketball tournaments, and much more.  The festivities will culminate with a dance at 8:30 pm and fireworks in the park at 10:00.  Huntsville Park is located at 200 S 7500 E.

  • Liberty: Liberty Days

Liberty is home to Liberty Days, another Independence Day celebration held in Ogden Valley.  Liberty Days events begin breakfast at 7:00 am, followed by a parade at 9:00.  Liberty Park will host games, booths, and vendors throughout the day.  A Dutch oven dinner will begin at 7:00 pm, followed by fireworks at dark.  Liberty Park is located at 3600 E 4100 N.

  • Morgan

Morgan’s Independence Day celebration kicks off at Riverside Park with a 5K run at 7:00 am and a community breakfast from 7:00 to 10:00, followed immediately by a parade.  Throughout the remainder of the day, Riverside Park will host food, games, booths, and entertainment.  Festivities conclude with a community dinner at 6:00 pm, a flag-retiring ceremony at 7:00 and a live concert at 8:00.  Riverside Park is located on 125 N just north of Morgan High School.

  • North Ogden: Cherry Days

North Ogden’s Cherry Days is one of the most popular Independence Day celebrations in northern Utah.  The festivities begin on the morning of July 4th with the Cherry Days 5K race, breakfast at North Ogden Park, and the Cherry Days Parade.  Other activities held throughout the day include a car show, volleyball tournament, basketball tournament, and a festival with food, games, entertainment, and booths.  The celebration culminates with a fantastic firework display, which is held at Barker Park.

  • Ogden: Hot Rock’n 4th

Hot Rock’n 4th is Ogden City’s annual Independence Day celebration and the largest Fourth of July event in northern Utah.  Held at Lorin Farr Park, Hot Rock’n 4th kicks off at 1:00 pm and features entertainment, family friendly games, a demolition derby, live music, and fireworks.  Admission tickets are available at www.smithstix.com.  Lorin Farr Park is located at 668 17th Street.

  • Plain City

Plain City’s Independence Day activities begin with a community breakfast at 7:00 am and a 5K run/3K walk at the same time, followed by a parade at 8:30 and a flag ceremony at 9:30.  Beginning at 10:00, Lee Olsen Park will host all sorts of entertainment, including volleyball tournaments, basketball tournaments, vendors, booths, live music, and much more.  The festivities conclude with a fireworks display at 10:00 pm.  Lee Olsen Park is located at 4156 W 220 N.

  • Riverdale: Old Glory Days

Riverdale’s Old Glory Days kicks off at 7:00 am with a flag ceremony, followed by a community breakfast at Riverside Park from 7:30 to 9:30.  A 5K run/walk will be held at the same time.  A city parade will begin immediately following breakfast.  Throughout the remainder of the day, Riverside Park will host booths, concessions, and entertainment.  The festivities conclude with a fireworks display at dusk.  Riverside Park is located at 4360 S Parker Avenue.

As you can see, you have no shortage of opportunities to celebrate our nation’s birthday.  Whether you decide to stay in your home town to celebrate or head to another city to experience something new, you’re sure to have a good time.  Happy Independence Day!
