Central Davis Junior High School

School Name

Central Davis Junior High School, located in Layton, Utah, is the home of the Cubs.  Opened in 1954, this school is one of the oldest in the Davis School District and has undergone numerous renovation projects throughout the years.  One such project in 2002 gave Central Davis Junior High School the largest school gymnasium in Davis County.  The most recent renovation project gave the school a new commons area, updated offices and entrance area, and a new band room.  Today, Central Davis Junior High School enrolls approximately 920 students from seventh grade through ninth grade.

Central Davis Junior High School, according to its website, is a school were "learning is central to success," and Principal David Tanner and his faculty and staff are committed to the success of all students at Central Davis Junior High School.  To aid in that cause, the school offers a myriad of educational opportunities for students.  One such program is the Central Davis Junior High School Honors Program.  The purpose of this program, according to the school's website, is to "assist students in their endeavor to excel academically while emphasizing depth and complexity, promoting inquiry through high academic standards, and understanding the world-wide impact of our individual and societal decisions."
 
Central Davis Junior High School also offers a variety of extracurricular activities for students.  For example, Cubs athletics teams include basketball, volleyball, wrestling, track and field, cheerleading, and much more.  Other extracurricular activities offered at Central Davis Junior High School include National Academic League, Honor Society, musical performance groups, and much more.
