South Ogden, Utah

Located in the south-central section of the county, South Ogden shares a border with Ogden to the north and east, Uintah to the south, and Washington Terrace and Riverdale to the west. The community was originally called Burch Creek, in honor of Daniel Burch, one of the first Mormon pioneers to settle the area in 1848. The population grew steadily, and the city was officially incorporated in 1936 with the new name of South Ogden. A fun fact about this city: in 2001, South Ogden elected the first African-American mayor in the state of Utah.

Today, over 17,000 residents call South Ogden home. The city features a comfortable balance between residential areas and business areas, making it a comfortable yet convenient place to call home. South Ogden is known for it's easy access to hiking and walking trails as well as close proximity to Weber State University and the city of Ogden. On the Southernmost end of town you will have direct access to South and Westbound highways, making popular shopping and entertainment areas like Riverdale, Layton and Farmington just minutes away. South Ogden is also only a 35 minute drive to Salt Lake City. The Ogden Golf and Country Club is located in South Ogden, which offers golf, dining and pool access for members in the Summer months. City Parks are scattered all throughout the area, giving families plenty of options to keep the kiddos busy. Friendship park in South Ogden even includes a splash pad. The city hosts many exciting activities for residents, including a Valentine's Ball, an Easter egg hunt, and much more.
