Washington Terrace

Washington Terrace, Utah

Washington Terrace, Utah, is a city in the south-central area of Weber County.  Washington Terrace shares a border with Riverdale to the west, South Ogden to the east, and the Weber River to the south.  The city was established in 1942 as the Washington Terrace Housing Project, a temporary community that house many of the 22,000 military and civilian personnel who worked at nearby Hill Air Force Base during World War II.  The community was to be torn down after the war, but citizens and community leaders acquired funds from the government and from private parties to convert the temporary community into a permanent city.  Washington Terrace was officially incorporated in 1948.

Today, over 9,000 residents call Washington Terrace home.  Residents have access to many wonderful amenities both within and outside city limits.  Washington Terrace offers six public parks, multiple paved walking trails, a civic-senior community center, and many youth programs, including contact football, baseball, softball, and more.  In addition, the Ogden Golf and Country Club and Schneiter's Riverside Golf are both nearby.  The city also hosts Terrace Days, an annual celebration of the city's heritage.  Washington Terrace is within short driving distance of many of northern Utah hotspots.  For example, Ogden Valley's three ski areas--Snowbasin, Powder Mountain, and Wolf Mountain--are all within a 45-minute drive.  For boating enthusiasts, Willard Bay State Park and Pineview Reservoir are both nearby. Because of its history as a former housing project, Washington Terrace offers mostly single-family residential living and limited space for development.  But this also contributes to the city's overall charm and the cost of living in Washington Terrace is lower than the national average.
