Clinton, Utah, is a city at the northern edge of Davis County. Clinton shares a border with West Point to the west and south, Clearfield and Sunset to the east, and Weber County to the north. Settlers began to arrive in present-day Clinton in 1879. Known as "Summit" at the time, the area was used mainly for dry-farming. In 1881, a railroad station was constructed in the settlement. The community was still referred to as Summit until 1896, when the name was changed to Clinton. The city was incorporated in 1936.
