Oakley, Utah, is a small town in southwestern Summit County.  Located in an area of the Wasatch Back known as Kamas Valley, Oakley's nearest neighbors are Kamas to the south and the unincorporated area of Peoa to the west.  The first settlers arrived in present-day Oakley in 1868.  This settlement, known then as Oak Creek, was attractive for early settlers because of its abundance of timber, its rich soil, and its proximity to a major tributary of the Weber River.  More and more settlers arrived as the years passed, and after adopting its current name in 1887, Oakley was officially incorporated in 1934.

Today, approximately 1,500 residents call Oakley home.  Oakley is mainly known for the annual Oakley Independence Day Rodeo and the Road Island Diner.  The Oakley Independence Day Rodeo draws tourists from all over the state.  This 70-plus-year-old rode is sanctioned by the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association and is held every year in a 6,000-seat stadium in Oakley.  The Road Island Diner is a rare streamline rail-car diner, the only such restaurant in the western United States.  After being built in 1939, this restaurant operated in Fall River, Massachusetts for 14 years. It was then sold and transported to Rhode Island, where it operated for more than 40 years.  Then, in 2007, a Utah businessman purchased the diner and brought it to Oakley, where it re-opened in 2008.  Today, the Road Island Diner is extremely popular among locals and tourists alike and is the only restaurant in Utah to be listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Oakley contains mostly rural living with some residential living.  According to BestPlaces.net, approximately 56% of all homes in Oakley are valued between $200,000 and $400,000, and the median home cost is $300,700.
