Roy, Utah, is the second most-populated city in Weber County. Located in the southwest corner of the county, Roy shares a border with West Haven to the north, Riverdale to the east, Hooper to the west, and Davis County to the south. The area remained mostly uninhabited until a man named William Evans Barker settled there with his family in 1873, 25 years after Ogden was settled. The area developed gradually and was eventually incorporated in 1937. The city officially adopted the name Roy in honor of a local schoolteacher's deceased child. A fun fact about Roy: The first branch bank in Utah was established in Roy in 1953.
