Big Mountain Pass to Mueller Park

Beautiful views and a good mix of meadows and aspen woods on this 18 mile trail. So many wild flower varieties, exposed lines, steep ups and downs. Once you go over the peak to continue to Mueller Park, there is no trail for 3-4 miles. Get ready for some bushwhacking and bring your GPS! A favorite among backpackers, hikers, and runners! The best times to visit the trail are April through September. You'll need to leave pups at home — dogs aren't allowed on this trail.

The Morgan "M" Trail

Intermediate | 2.7 miles | Directions

Steep and steady climb up the ridge to the concrete M on this moderately challenging out-and-back trail that takes about 2 hr 15 minutes to complete. Amazing views of Snowbasin, the Wasatch Back and the valley below. Perfect for birding, hiking, and running- you’ll likely not run into many others on this quiet trail. No shade coverage, so bring sunscreen.

Big Mountain Via Great Western Trail

Intermediate | 6.8 miles | Directions

This popular out-and-back trail takes about 3 hr 35 min to complete and is a favorite amongst backpackers, hikers, and runners. Keep an eye out for horned lizards and other wildlife. The best times to visit this trail are May through October. You'll need to leave pups at home — dogs aren't allowed on this trail. Top of the world views, aspen groves, alpine prairie. Little shade.

Little Emigration Canyon- Donner Reed Party & Mormon Pioneer Route

Intermediate | 8.3 miles | Directions

This out-and-back trail follows the path of the Donner Party, Pony Express and Mormon pioneers from East Canyon up to Big Mountain Pass overlooking Emigration Canyon. Just over 8 miles long, this trail takes an average of 3 hr 48 min to complete. Meanders through willows and climbs gradually up the side of a small creek. One of the few places where the original pioneer trail can still be followed. Best times to visit this trail are February through October. Dogs aren’t allowed on this trail. Please note that there is a $2 parking fee at the trailhead.

East Canyon Reservoir Lookout

Easy | 1.6 miles | Directions

Head out on this 1.6-mile out-and-back trail near Morgan, Utah. Generally considered an easy route, it takes an average of 38 min to complete. This trail is great for walking, and it's unlikely you'll encounter many other people while exploring. Dogs are welcome, but must be on a leash. Trail is inside East Canyon State Park, entry fee may apply.
