West Haven, Utah, is a city in the central portion of Weber County.  West Haven is bordered by Marriott-Slaterville to the north, Ogden to the east, Roy to the south, and Hooper to the west.  The city began as two separate settlements, Kanesville and Wilson.  Wilson was established in 1854 by four brothers and their families.  Kanesville was settled eight years later.  This area was named after Thomas L. Kane, a Union Army officer who assisted the Mormon pioneers in their trek to Utah.  Though Kane wasn't a member of the LDS church or ever lived in Utah, he was very influential in establishing the Utah Territory in 1850.  Kanesville and Wilson remained separate unincorporated areas until they were combined and incorporated as one city, named West Haven, in 1991.

Today, approximately 15,000 residents call West Haven home.  The city offers its residents many wonderful amenities, including multiple public parks, a youth council, the brand new River Parkway Trail, a rodeo arena, and much more.  West Haven's recreation department offers youth sorts, including contact football, basketball, baseball, softball, and youth rodeo.  The recreation department also offers adult sorts, including an annual basketball tournament and the West Haven Days 5K race.  In addition, West Haven residents are close to many of northern Utah's outdoor recreational hotspots.  For boating and fishing enthusiasts, Willard Bay State Park and Pineview Reservoir are nearby.  For skiers and snowboarders, Ogden Valley's ski areas--Snowbasin, Wolf Mountain, and Powder Mountain--are all within an hour's drive.

West Haven offers a comfortable balance of country, suburban, and subdivision living.  The median home age in West Haven is lower than national average and several new townhome and condominium developments have moved into the area, providing safe, modern and comfortable options for first time home buyers.
