Bountiful, Utah

Bountiful, Utah, is a city located toward the southern of Davis County.  This city is bordered by Centerville to the north, West Bountiful and Woods Cross to the west, North Salt Lake to the south, and the Wasatch Mountains to the east.  Bountiful was one of the earliest-settled areas in Utah.  In fact, it was the Mormon pioneers' second settlement after Salt Lake City. The area was known as Sessions Settlement and North Canyon Ward. It wasn’t until the mid-1850s that the area was called Bountiful, a word which means “giving generously”. The new name was fitting due to the community’s lush gardens and beautiful surroundings.  Bountiful was officially incorporated in 1892. Though growth in the city began slowly over the first few decades, the Bountiful population has consistently been on the rise ever since. The biggest spike in population came during 60's and 70's when more than 21,000 people moved to the area. Today, more than 43,000 residents call Bountiful home. This city has been voted to be one of the safest areas in Utah to call home. It was built on a slant along the side of the Wasatch Mountains. Maple Ridge and Stone Ridge are two communities that have literally been developed on the mountains themselves, overlooking the rest of the city. Canyon Crest is another beautiful neighborhood which can be found at the mountain base.

Things To Do

Residents have access to many wonderful amenities, services, and attractions within the city. This includes numerous city parks and recreation areas; the South Davis Recreation Center, which offers swimming pools, weights and fitness centers, basketball courts, racquetball courts, an ice rink, and much more; and the Bountiful Ridge Golf Course, an 18-hole, well-reviewed course in the foothills of the Wasatch Mountains. Bountiful is also home to an LDS temple and many fine retailers, shops, and restaurants.  In addition, Bountiful annually hosts Handcart Days, the city's heritage celebration.  Festivities include a parade, fireworks, games, entertainment, food, and much more. Some of the most fun things to do are outdoor adventures, such as trails like Mueller Park Trailhead and Bonneville Shoreline Trail, where you can go hiking, mountain biking, and admire what used to be the shoreline of the ancient Lake Bonneville. There are also a handful of exciting local parks that dot the map including Creekside Park with its large playground, gorgeous greenery, and access to the nearby Mill Creek. The city of Bountiful hosts fun community events each Summer, including Summer Fest, a weekly farmers market, outdoor movies, a chalk art festival, a music festival and weekly live music at the Bountiful City Park.
