Summary

Centerville, Utah, is a city in the south-central area of Davis County.  This city is bordered by Farmington to the north, Bountiful and West Bountiful to the south, the Great Salt Lake to the west, and the Wasatch Mountains to the east.  The area was settled by Thomas Grover and his family in 1847.  Grover was one of the men who led the first group of Mormon pioneers to Utah, and after settling in present-day Centerville, Grover served in the Utah Territorial Legislature.  Centerville was originally known as Deuel Settlement and was later renamed to Cherry Creek.  Finally, in 1850, the settlement received the name "Centerville" because of its central location between Farmington and Bountiful.

Today, more than 17,500 residents call Centerville home.  Residents have access to many wonderful amenities, services, and attractions within the city.  This includes numerous public parks and beautiful walking trails.  The Centerville Recreation Department offers many organized sports for the youth of Centerville, including baseball, soccer, contact football, hockey, and more.  The Centerville Recreation Department even maintains and offers a public outdoor shooting range in the foothills east of the city.  In addition to recreation opportunities, children may participate in many city-sponsored activities, such as an annual Halloween Pumpkin Walk, Christmas Coloring Contest, Easter Egg Hunt, and a Teen Movie Night.  All these activities are organized by the Centerville Youth Council.  Centerville is also home to many fine retailers, shops, and restaurants.
