Clinton, Utah, is a city at the northern edge of Davis County.  Clinton shares a border with West Point to the west and south, Clearfield and Sunset to the east, and Weber County to the north.  Settlers began to arrive in present-day Clinton in 1879.  Known as "Summit" at the time, the area was used mainly for dry-farming.  In 1881, a railroad station was constructed in the settlement.  The community was still referred to as Summit until 1896, when the name was changed to Clinton.  The city was incorporated in 1936. Today, more than 22,000 residents call Clinton home.  Throughout the past two decades, Clinton has been one of the fastest-growing cities in Davis County.  In fact, according to BestPlaces.net, Clinton has seen a population growth of 60% from 2000 to 2010 and has since sustained growth of almost 1% each year.  The city's commercial district has flourished because of this growth.  Clinton is home to a Wal-Mart Supercenter, a Lowe's, a Macey's, and numerous smaller shops, restaurants, and businesses. Clinton is also known as a safe place to raise a family and ranks well below the national average for violent crime and property crime.
