Summary

Henefer, Utah, is a small town in Summit County.  Though Henefer shares no border with any other community, its nearest neighbors are the even smaller towns of Croydon to the north and Echo to the south.  The area of present-day Henefer was settled by brothers William and James Hennefer and their families in 1853.  The Hennefers were sent to this area by Brigham Young, the leader of the LDS church at the time, and they named their settlement "Henneferville."  More and more settlers arrived as the years passed, and after adopting its current name, Henefer was officially incorporated in 1938. Life in Henefer is quiet and peaceful, and its residents prefer it that way.  The town is surrounded by mountains and farmland. The Weber River runs directly through the middle of town, providing it's residents with tranquil sounds and scenery as well as direct access for tubing and fishing.  There are few businesses in Henefer but it does provide residents with a few important conveniences, such as the US Post Office and a convenience store on Main Street.  Though a sleepy town by nature, Henefer residents are only a short drive to modern conveniences, just 16 minutes to Morgan, 34 minutes to South Ogden and 37 minutes to both Park City Ski Areas and Snowbasin Ski Resort.  Echo Reservoir and East Canyon Reservoir, popular boating and fishing destinations, are just minutes away.  In addition, Salt Lake City is approximately an hour's drive to the southwest.
