Summary

Plain City, Utah, is a small farming city located in the northwest corner of Weber County.  Plain City is bordered by mostly unincorporated area to the north and west, by Marriott-Slaterville to the south, and by Farr West to the east.  The area was settled by members of the LDS church in 1858 under the recommendation of Lorin Farr, the first mayor of Ogden City.  These families came from present-day Kaysville, Utah, and Lehi, Utah, in search of a new place to homestead.  In 1859, the settlers decided on the name Plain City for their settlement.  The city was officially incorporated in 1944.  A fun fact about Plain City: C.R. England Trucking, Swift Transportation, and Knight Transportation all have roots in Plain City.

Today, approximately 7,100 residents call Plain City home.  This is a quiet, modest community with ample open space.  The city offers many opportunities for its young residents, including the Plain City Pops Orchestra, the Harvest Arts Festival, flag and contact football, basketball, baseball, softball, and teeball. This community is also home to Fremont High School and several other new businesses have moved to the area, including Kents Market and a Mavrick. Plain City is within short driving distance of numerous recreational hotspots in northern Utah.  For example, Ogden Valley's three ski resorts--Wolf Mountain, Powder Mountain, and Snowbasin--are all within an hour's drive.  For boating and fishing enthusiasts, Willard Bay State Park is about 20 minutes north, and Pineview Reservoir is about 30 minutes east. Since Plain City is a farming and agricultural community, the city offers significant rural living.  But as more residents have taken jobs in other sectors, the city has developed subdivision living and even some high-end living as well.

As the city has grown, new businesses and amenities have moved to the area, including a grocery store and a mavrick. The Plain City Confectionary is a local favorite, serving comfort foods, treats and drinks with a fun atmosphere. There are also 4 parks. Fremont High School is at the center of the community and hosts events that bring the locals together, such as football games and track competitions. Residents also enjoy romping around in atv's or on horseback. The sounds of Plain City are mostly filled with birds, trees in the breeze and distant tractor engines. This city offers significant rural living but as more residents have taken jobs in other sectors, the city has developed subdivision living and even some high-end living as well.
