If you’re a music fan, you’ve had one heck of a summer so far here in Ogden Valley.  For one, the Blues, Brews, and BBQ Concert Series at Snowbasin is in full swing.  If you have not yet been to a show in this concert series, we definitely urge you to check it out.  We also encourage you to check out another amazing concert coming up in Ogden Valley: Utah Symphony under the Stars at Snowbasin on Friday, July 26th.

Snowbasin Resort, in conjunction with the Ogden Symphony Ballet Association, invites you to come spend an evening with the Utah Symphony for a “Classically Charged Celebration” on the evening of the 26th.

The Utah Symphony is an 85-member symphony orchestra based out of Salt Lake City.  Founded in 1940, the Utah Symphony is regarded as one of the premier symphony orchestras in America, playing more than 150 shows across Utah and the western United States every year.  The Utah Symphony is renowned internationally as well, having played concerts in prestigious concert halls and theaters around the world, including Carnegie Hall in New York, the Kennedy Center in Washington DC, the Konzerthaus in Vienna, the Odeon of Herodes Atticus in Athens, Royal Festival Hall in London, and many more.  The Utah Symphony’s current home is Abravanel Hall in Salt Lake City.

The Utah Symphony has had seven conductors in its time, and each conductor has brought his own unique style and flair to the Symphony.  The current conductor of the Utah Symphony is usually Thierry Fischer, a Swiss conductor who has “brought a dynamic and energetic approach to the orchestra’s musical identity, programing a mix of contemporary, classical, and romantic repertoire with a focus on works by Stravinsky, Berlioz, Beethoven, Mendelssohn, and Carl Nielsen.”

For this performance at Snowbasin, however, the Utah Symphony will be conducted by Vladimir Kulenovic.  Led by Kulenovic, the Utah Symphony will be performing “Musical Theater blockbusters such as the West Side Story, Classics like Belle of the Ball,” and patriotic favorites, such as “The Star Spangled Banner,” as well as the official songs of each branch of the US armed forces, according to Snowbasin’s website.

For a full program, see this previous blog post.

If you order in advance, tickets to Utah Symphony Under the Stars cost $13 for lawn seating and $25 for preferred seating.  You may purchase tickets in person at the Grizzly Center ticket office or online here.

On the evening of the event, gates open and food service begins at 6:30.  Music begins at 8:00.
