Summer time in Ogden Valley is beautiful.  The nights are warm and clear, the water at Pineview Reservoir is the perfect temperature for swimming, and all the trails around the area are open and inviting.  You’ll find no shortage of things to do in Ogden Valley during the summer.  One of our favorite summer-time activities, however, is the Wolf Creek Foundation’s Music in the Mountains Concert Series.

The Wolf Creek Foundation, created in 2006, is non-profit organization whose primary purpose is to sponsor and engage in “activities that enrich and strengthen the quality of life in our community,” according to the Foundation’s website.  To aid in that cause, the Wolf Creek Foundation supports the Ogden Rescue Mission, which provides chapel services,

Calling all music fans! It’s that time again—the Blues, Brews, and BBQ Concert Series at Snowbasin resumes this Sunday, July 7th, with performances by Nicki Bluhm and the Gamblers and special guests the Ugly Valley Boys.

Nicki Bluhm and the Gamblers is a six-piece “rocking country soul” band led by the husband and wife duo of Tim and Nicki Bluhm.  Based in San Francisco, California, Nicki Bluhm and the Gamblers formed in 2008 and have since released two albums: Toby’s Song (2008) and Driftwood (2011).  Considered to be a breakout, up-and-coming act, Nicki Bluhm and the Gamblers is perhaps best known for the band’s “Van Sessions” Youtube videos.  In “Van Sessions,” the band members filmed themselves playing cover songs while driving their tour bus

Music fans—mark your calendar once again!  On Sunday, June 30th, Snowbasin will once again welcome Lukas Nelson and Promise of the Real to the Patio at Earl’s Lodge for the second show of the Blues, Brews, and BBQ Concert Series.

Lukas Nelson is the son of famous country music star Willie Nelson and front man for Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real.  Nelson formed the band in 2008, and the band began touring that same year, opening for Willie Nelson and B.B. King.  In 2010, Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real released the band’s debut album, self-titled Promise of the Real.  The album was a major success, and the band hit the road again in 2011, touring heavily with Willie Nelson and playing numerous music festivals across the country.  Lukas Nelson

Do you like music?  Do you like free stuff?  If the answer to either of those questions is “yes”—which it should be!—then you should definitely come up to Snowbasin Resort on Saturday, June 23rd for the first concert in the Blues, Brews, and BBQ Concert Series.

The Blues, Brews, and BBQ Concert Series is a series of free concerts that takes place every Sunday throughout the summer at Snowbasin’s Earl’s Lodge.  Each week, Snowbasin will present a different artist, with styles ranging from blues to bluegrass, reggae to rock ‘n’ roll, soul to country.  Blues, Brews, and BBQ Concert Series kicks off on Sunday with a performance by Marinade and special guest Folk Hogan

Marinade is a five-piece blues/funk/soul/reggae band from Salt Lake City.

If you’re a sports fan or a baseball fan, you know that the Major League Baseball season began in April and is now in full swing.  Additionally, the Salt Lake Bees, an affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, are also well into their season.  But baseball will finally return to Ogden this weekend, as Ogden’s own minor-league ball club, the Ogden Raptors, will celebrate their first home game of the 2013 season this Saturday, June 22nd.

The Raptors’ season actually begins tomorrow night, as Ogden takes to the road to face the Grand Junction Rockies.  The Raptors then return home on Saturday for their home opener against the Idaho Falls Chukars.

By mid-June, most of the snow from the slopes at Snowbasin has long been melted.  But that doesn’t mean that this traditional winter destination is inactive during the summer.  In fact, it’s quite the contrary.  All the restaurants at Snowbasin remain open year-round; the trail systems at Snowbasin and the surrounding areas are open; and the disc golf course is open and ready for players.  You’ll find plenty of things to do at Snowbasin during the offseason.  But in addition to these summer-time amenities, Snowbasin hosts free concerts throughout the summer as a part of the Blues, Brews, and BBQ Concert Series.

Are you daring enough to try the ultimate, 200-mile, mountain-spanning relay race?  Then check out the Ragnar Wasatch Back Relay from June 20th through June 22nd.

You’ve undoubtedly heard of Ragnar, and you’ve surely seen the Ragnar stickers on the rear windows of vehicles around northern Utah.  Ragnar is extremely popular in this area, but you might find yourself wondering what Ragnar is exactly and why it is so popular here.

Well, for one, Ragnar was born here in Utah.  Created and first run in 2004, the Wasatch Back Relay is the original Ragnar race.  The Wasatch Back Relay is so named because it begins in Logan, Utah and ends in Park City—a 198.2-mile course that traverses the backside of the Wasatch Mountain Range.  That first race was small;
